How much does it cost?
  • The cost for financial consulting is $300 per hour.
  • New clients: 2-hour minimum required.
  • Current clients: ongoing meetings may be scheduled in 15-minute increments in-person or via Skype/phone.

Financial Planning + Coaching

Please note: I am not accepting new financial coaching clients at this time. If you’d like recommendations for other financial planners, please visit my FAQ page

Concerned about retirement? Negotiating your salary or changing careers? Emergency funds, spending issues, saving for your child’s education (or dealing with your own student loans)? We’ll get everything under control–one step at a time. Even the less glamorous things, like having the right kinds of insurance and essential estate planning documents like a health care proxy—you’ll be fully covered by the time we’re done.

Is this right for you?

This level of service is geared toward those who are regularly saving each month (or aren’t yet, but could be), and aren’t quite sure how to focus their energy to achieve their goals. Financial Coaching is designed to make sure you follow through on your goals by providing regular check-ins and support.

The clients who benefit most from the Financial Coaching package are usually entering an exciting new life stage and need help during the transition. Perhaps you’ve finally paid off your credit card debt, earned a promotion at work (accompanied by a nice raise), had a baby, or simply entered a new decade of life. If it’s time to finally feel in control of your finances, then this is the package for you.

What’s included?
  • Initial 2-hour meeting (in-person or via Skype) designed to help us both understand where you’re at today, as well as where you’d like to be.
  • During this meeting we will develop a personalized, comprehensive overview of all of your financial goals.
  • Detailed financial to-do list, prioritized by importance, with specific how-to descriptions for each item on the list.
  • Objective and unbiased evaluation of your current accounts and policies.
  • Email support and ongoing guidance as you work your way through your financial to-do list.
  • Monthly check-in meetings (can be in-person or via Skype) to make sure you are on the right track, and to reevaluate your goals as needed.
  • Weekly check-ins via email or text as desired, or a 15-min phone call.
What’s not included?
  • Financial coaching is designed to make sure you meet all of your financial goals within the allotted time frame. I can’t force you to do things (like finally buy renter’s insurance), but I can be the little reminder you need to make sure it doesn’t fall through the cracks.
How much does it cost?
  • The cost for 6-months of financial coaching is $3,500.
  • The cost for 1-year of financial coaching is $6,000.

Disclaimer: The one thing I don’t do (besides accept excuses) is provide investment advice.

I am a Certified Financial Planner, but I do not provide investment advice. If that is what you need, I am happy to recommend CFPs I know and trust. Or, if your investment needs are straightforward, consider a robo-advisor like Vanguard Personal Advisor or Schwab Intelligent Portfolios. Anytime you pay for investment advice, make sure you understand how the advisor is compensated. If you don’t know, ask. There are no dumb questions when it comes to financial fees.
